Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor

Lockheed Martin developed the F-22 Raptor as a result of a USAF request for an Advanced Tactical Fighter able to achieve air superiority over hostel territory. The first YF-22 flew in 1990. After being initially named the Lightning II, the F-22 was officially named the Raptor in 1997. Many aviation experts agree that the F-22 is the most capable combat aircraft in the world today.

The F-22 Raptor in this painting is from the 53rd Wing, 422nd Test and Evaluation Squadron. After a simulated interception, the Raptor pilot is visually checking out the MQM-107E Streaker sub-scale aerial target drone.
