Such is the fame of the B-17 Flying Fortress that stories of its exploits have already become legendary. Few would dispute that bombing played a major part in the defeat of the axis powers and that two-fifths of the total tonnage of bombs dropped by the US Army Air Forces were delivered by B-17’s.

This painting is my tribute to the USAAF Eight Air Force, the strategic bombing force in Europe. Pictured are two B-17’s from the 447th Bomb Group escorted home by P-51’s of the 352 Fighter Group. I had the honor of being able to spend time aboard the B-17 “Fuddy Duddy” and fly in the P-51 “Crazy Horse” shown in this painting.
